Introducing: HONSKI

The brand name for my fashion campaign.

Originally founded by my girlfriend, the brand name was created when coming up with ideas and concepts for her own fashion brand which has since been put on pause. However to bring the idea to life I requested that I use the name within this project. I also thought that maybe it would help to visualise the ideas of the brand, which this project might help to fuel it to become a bigger venture.

For now, however, it is a purely original idea that has been applied to this campaign for an added sense of realism and professionalism whilst maintaining the modern and simplistic aesthetic that the campaign clearly displays through its imagery.

The simplistic logo above was created using simple text techniques in Adobe Photoshop before removing the background to make it a transparent PNG file. I am no artist so drawing's were a no-go for now, since my intention was to create a simple yet effecting and modern brand name that can also be used as a logo.

Whilst it isn't an icon or an image, this logo fits in with the brands that I have researched, including H&M, PHUG and Urban Outfitters, among others.

What can be seen from these logos is similar to the style and ideas used in my own; simple text, either in colour of black and white. These brand logos are minimalist with the purpose of being easily recognisable and applied to products without being obtrusive or obnoxious. Granted, if obnoxious branding is what you're into, look no further than the Supreme line of products...

There are also another type of brand logo; those that are made of icons. These make up the majority of brand logos as they are often single icons that represent the brand. Examples of the include Apple (an apple), Nike (the iconic tick), Amazon (the amazon smile), McDonalds (the Golden Arches) etc.

These logos and icons have developed over the years, taking on new variants of the same shape or developing entirely to become something new. Regardless, the logos often stick around for a few years and customers never forget the brand due to their sheer popularity and size.

It is important as a brand designer and logo designer that you not only create something that is unique to you as a brand, but also something that represents your products. For example, Apple's logo represents simplicity, whist Amazon's logo, when applied to the full company name, points the arrow from A to Z to convert the message that they sell everything from A to Z.
