Part of the research and inspiration aspect of my project involved looking at other brands and exploring what imagery and moving image content they put out for their products. One of the initial ideas was Urban Outfitters, and so I took to their website to find imagery and create a moodboard.
This particular moodboard focused on the newly released BDG line, which is an environmentally-conscious clothing line by the brand. The images displayed here were taken from the website where there was a BDG Lookbook, which enabled me to have a look at a professional equivalent of my project plan.
The key points taken from this study was that this line had specific themes, such as a vintage streetwear aesthetic applied to casual clothing, such as jackets, trousers etc. Furthermore, from a creator perspective, the photos were all shot on a set in a studio with a plain white background. The shots were medium to close-up shots of the models and their outfits, typical to that of fashion photography. As well as that, a number of the images utilised RGB lighting to add an extra feature to the image, whilst others included the BDG logo in the corner.
This campaign is a simple yet clear example of what is used within the industry to promote new lines of clothing in a visually pleasing way.
I aim to use some of the skills seen in this lookbook within my own work, particularly in the photoshoot section of my project. I will continue to reflect back on these images as examples of professional work in a bid to maintain a high production quality of the products.
