Using a range of different coloured inks we made inkblot images in today’s session. The idea was to let the ink flow across the page, either leaving it in streaks or folding the page over on itself to mirror the ink image. This lead to a variety of results, a couple of which can be seen below.
As can be seen from the middle image, by combining the two images I was able to create something that vaguely represented a body with the head of a crab.
Often used in psychology, these images may appear different to different people based on mood, personality, mental state etc. Personally, the combined images show a crab-person, with the top image representing a crab and the bottom image looking like a skeleton with a spine and pelvis towards the bottom.
These images can be transferred to digital media with the help of photoshop, enabling me to blend real-life photos with the ink to make creatures and images that appear ghostly and somewhat lifelike.
