Picture Perfect

Films by Roy Andersson, particularly About Endlessness (2019), often share a similar aesthetic. The (again) Swedish director / filmmaker sets up scenes in ways that make them look like photos or paintings. The scenes often lack colours, typical of that in Scandinavian media.

Lots of bland colours are used in the mise en scene, such as greys and browns. This can be seen clearly above in images taken from the film. Often grunge-y, Scandinavian media used similar themes and aesthetics across the board.
