This session was a difficult one, when really it should’ve been far simpler. We were tasked with creating a storyboard for a short film that we would begin shooting next week. Easy right? No. Being me, my mind went blank and I struggled to generate an idea there and then. It was as if all my ideas had been sucked into a void.

...a void. That was the idea! Using this sense of feeling lost and empty I was able to create a storyboard which played with ideas that represented this. From an individual lost in their own head, sucked into the void of space only to be overcome by a crashing wave, overwhelming them and throwing them out into emptiness. This can all be seen visualised below:

The idea was to get us to storyboard for individual scenes based on that in a promotion for Alexander McQueen.

As seen in the top photo he uses boxes to separate the different aspects of the scene he is creating. Granted, this is a plan for photoshoot, the idea still stands with film where you should allocate simple images and sketches for each scene you wish to shoot.
